Hi Guys, Been a while since I posted, been away out of the country. Good to be back! With the price of fuel going up and up was really wondering what you all think about fitting an inline fuelcat, is it really a fit and forget or are they a waste of money? The website seems ok www.fuelcat.co.uk and they make some pretty good claims about its performance. Currently using Valvemaster plus which was recommended by a local mechanic which is now up to £15 a bottle. I use my 2.8 everyday and the fuel costs are starting to get a bit much but I still would not drive anything else, it amazes me how much attention my old capri gets. ;D

Looked into this a few years back and it looks like these are a con and they don't make any difference. If they did the manufacturers may have used them. They're not allowed to be advertised either I believe. Interesting to see what everyone else thinks................... fuelcatisascam.selfip.com/fuelcat.htmlCheck this page. Plenty more like this I've seen.

interesting read here, gives some approved additives by the FBHVC and also agrees with Dave's post above thats theres nothing scientific to prove the in-line fuel cats work. www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuel/LRP.htmli personally used the Redex stuff which is about a fiver but not been using it long enough to know if it actually works. Other options is hardened exhaust valve seats, thats what we done to the blue 2.8 so never have to bother with additive again.

Thanks for that, I did wonder if it was too good to be true, Opie oils are selling the Valvemaster plus at £11 pound a go, probably go for that. Tried the redex and a few others and they all seem to do a good job, engine is running nice and smooth, no pinking. Do you think it would be possible for the Club to persuede a local petrol station to stock some leaded petrol, had a look at the website www.leadedpetrol.co.uk and its still for sale down south but nothing in Scotland.
