Read from the bottom up for it to make sense. Someone has replied pointing out the governement only puts up £1000, the dealer puts in other £1000 of the scrappage discount so in theory the dealer only needs £1000 for it to break even. £1000 for a Mk2 Capri with 25,000miles and 11 month MOT can't be bad.

Scrapage....
I know it's not the first, and it probably wont be the last... but there is a chance of saving this 1.6 GL Mk 2 if anyone is interested in paying in the region of £2,000 for it!!
As you will see from the original email (at the bottom) it's in storage that the Audi dealer until the owners New car is delivered in December...

Hi Sally,
The car is with Kevan Johnson of Smith Knight and Faye in Bolton Lancs. Kevan's email is kevanjohnson@smithknightfay.co.uk sorry I don't have his phone number with me. The car is a 1976 Capri 1600 GL in Sahara Beige with a chocolate vinyl roof. I'm not at home at the moment but will send some pictures as soon as I get back. Everything is original on the car and the seats and carpets are like new, the car even smells like new. There's some minor corrosion on the body and the MOT has eleven months left on it. The car has been garaged since new and was only used when we came back to the UK on holidays.

Hi,
I have a 1976 Capri MkII 1600GL that is with our local Audi dealer awaiting scrappage when a new car arrives in December. The car has been registered in my name and my wife's name only. We bought it new in 1976 and have only done 25,000 miles in it. We would much prefer to see it go to an enthusiast rather than see it scrapped and wondered if anyone in your club is interested in it? Bearing in mind, it is worth £2000 off the new car to us.
If anyone is interested I can pass on the details of the salesman who has it stored at the local Audi dealership in Bolton. He has agreed to act on our behalf. The reason being, I work in Saudi Arabia and my wife accompanies me.
